What Is
Biodiesel?
Biodiesel
is made from vegetable oil or animal fat and runs the majority of diesel
engines without modification. Since Biodiesel is biodegradable it is much
better for our environment than its counterpart fossil fuel. Biodiesel has also
been shown to produce lower tailpipe emissions than regular fossil fuel diesel.
Because biodiesel is that it is made from plants and animals, it is a renewable
resource.
Any kind of
vegetable or animal fat can be used for Biodiesel although soybean and rapeseed
oil is the most common new oil to be used. Perhaps the least expensive oil to
use is used cooking oil form the home and from local restaurants which are
usually all to willing to sell at a low price or even give away the used oil
just to get rid of it.
Biodiesel
can be made quite easily at home in the garage or shed with a Biodiesel
Processor and a few simple inexpensive ingredients. It really does not take a
rocket scientist to make Biodiesel fuel. Instruction manuals and books giving
detailed information on making Biodiesel at home are readily available. Biodiesel
processing kits and or plans to make your own processor with local equipment
are readily available.
